Real Madrid’s unbeaten streak ends for 40 matches after a 2-1 defeat against Sevilla in La Liga on Sunday. Cristiano Ronaldo appeared the victory for Rael Madrid and it was looking like three points were in hand. But a Sergio Ramo’s shocking own goal and a stunner from the new signing changed everything.

The game looked equally balanced until the 67th minute when Sevilla keeper Sergio Rico fouled Dani Carvajal in the box. This gave a penalty shot to Real Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo tricked the Sevillian GoalKeepeer Rico in the wrong way and give Real a 1-0 lead.

It was Ronaldo’s 12th goal in seven trips to Sevilla, but the hosts were not in the mood to give up and had their leveled five minutes from normal time as Pablo Sarabia’s wicked free-kick from the right was nodded in by Ramos.

At 86 minute Sergio Ramos’s own goal placed Real Madrid under threat of losing the streak. But worse was to come for the leaders as, in stoppage time, Stevan Jovetic marked his maiden league appearance for Sevilla with the winner. Curling a shot from just outside the box that Keylor Navas could only parry into the bottom-right corner.

The victory takes Sevilla ahead of Barcelona into second and to within a point of Real at the top of the table, but Madrid also has a game in hand. The defeat ends a marvelous run for Real Madrid’s players, who haven’t tasted defeat since losing to Wolfsburg on April 6.
